Running the 7.10 beta desktop livecd on an IBM xSeries 255, I set the
sole ethernet interface to have a static IP. A status window popped up
advising me to wait, and when it went away after a long wait the network
configuration tool became unresponsive and had 15-30second delays
between repainting its contents.
I straced the tool's pid (thank you for including this on the livecd,
btw!) and saw that it is in a non-stop polling loop trying to read a
nonexistent /root/.gnome2/network-admin-locations file. I'm not
positive that this is the cause of the refresh lag, as the tool became a
little more responsive after the strace began, but it does seem like a
problem.
