You have been subscribed to a public bug:
No network connectivity. No ip address assigned via dhcp. Use of manual
address also fails to provide connectivity. NIC is detected fine (both
onboard and one installed in PCI slot for testing). External
connectivity (broadband DSL) verified to be working. Other computers
work fine with DHCP (both ubuntu laptop and winxp laptop) using same
network cable and plugged into same port on gateway/router/switch.
Hardware in computer works fine (gutsy live CD works, but no
connectivity). And gutsy installed to hard drive fine, but again no
connectivity. Computer is Gigabyte GA-M61SME-S2 (with nforce 600 series
chipset), athlon x2 3600+ processor, 2 gig ddr2 6400 RAM (ran memtest
from livecd for hours with no errors).
