I don't know whether this helps, but it seems to be a problem with the 7.10 remote login. I set up 2 machines, 1 Feisty, and one Gutsy. The fiesty machine can login to Gutsy and Feisty systems, but the Gutsy machine cannot connect to any remote systems with XDMCP.
This happens with Ubuntu and Xubuntu (I haven't tested Kubuntu). These machines are still 'vanilla', so if I ca be of any assistance, please let me know.
