I've just installed Gutsy with Gimp 2.4.0 RC3 and can confirm this is still happening. Selecting the option to create a new image offers a fixed image size of 420x300 pixels rather than it being sized to the last item copied to the clipboard. A workaround if copying with Gimp (from an open image to a new file), is to right-click the selection area and choose 'Edit / Paste as new image' where a new image will be created in the correct size for the selection area. It would be nice to have the functionality back where a new file is automatically sized though.
