I have the same problem. >>the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the >>problem The only thing I've done the last time was the installation of scratchbox: http://www.scratchbox.org/ But I don't think that this is relevant for this bug.
>>the behavior you expected I expected a normal login screen. >>the behavior you actually encountered The first thing I saw were the error messages as one can see in the attachment. Afterwards I clicked on the 'Computer' symbol, changed to /usr/bin/, opened the xterm, started gconf-editor and saw that the whole configuration was deleted. I compiled and started the wlan driver RT73_Linux_STA_Drv1.0.4.0 with the net interface rausb0 - because the standard driver of Ubuntu has never worked with my wlan device. Then I started Firefox to post a new bug report and saw that this bug already exists in this database. $ LANGUAGE=C gconftool-2 --spawn Failed to spawn the config server (gconfd): Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system crash.
