I don't know enough to answer your questions.
I simply start Mahjongg from the games menu and I play.
Fastest solution so far 3:48.
It is different from the old style I was accustomed to.
I have just started using ubuntu.
Started with Feisty and have upgraded to Gusty...
Then again I could be having hallucinations and maybe there really
weren't any more plays....
