Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gdm
I'm helping a friend at work with the upgrade of his laptop, from Feisty
to Gutsy, and after the upgrade the desktop is only 1024x768 (identical
to his laptop screen) - but X detects his external 1280x1024 monitor and
sets up a correct resolution.
It's a bit difficult to explain this in words, I'll try and attach a
screenshot.
I have tried everything I can think of.
- Reconfigured X
- Removed xorg.conf
- tried displayconfig-gtk (in which I'm unable to choose 1280x1024)
This seem to be related to gdm or GNOME and the way it interprets the
X-config.
xrandr reports (correctly) that the resolution is 1280x1024
But for some reason gdm and GNOME only believes that the resolution is
1024x768.
** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
