Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I'm new to Linux.

This seems to be a system wide issue, not Rhythmbox specifically.
The on-line help system did not seem to have an answer. This was the first
thing that popped up that appeared to go in a productive direction. I
apologize if this leads you on a wild goose chase.

All system sounds have stopped. Rhythmbox was working perfectly
yesterday.

I was watching videos on Google Video / You Tube. None had sound.

The system offered to correct this by downloading various components.
None worked, and some apparently made the previously working sound stop
working.

If you can shed any light on this, I would appreciate it.

Thank you,

David
