Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-panel
I was making changes to gnome desktop panels yesterday and tried to add
the windows list applet to the top panel and it crahsed the gnome-panel
(seg fault)! This was terribly disappointing! The one thing that has
bugged me for awhile is that there is no easy way to save panel settings
in the event a user or GDM ends up doing something stupid (that's
probably a wish list item).
Even after a reboot, the panel crashed again immediately when logging
into my account! The panel even crashed for my 'test user' account when
I tried to log in to that! I reinstalled gnome-panel and deleted all
gnome related hidden subdirs to get back to where I started. I'm pretty
sure this is repeatable, at least on my system.
Ubuntu 7.10 (clean install) on System 76 Darter 2 Ultra laptop (2GB RAM,
Intel Celeron, Intel 965 graphics), basic gnome desktop without compiz
bells and whistles b/c of 965 graphics issues.
