I have stopped using this functionality since it broke. A good workaround is to
1) Open the ftp or ssh folder in nautilus (ex: ssh://mysshserver.com) 2) Give nautilus your login details and store it on the keyring 3) Add the location as a nautilus bookmark Then the server location will show up in your Places menu as an ordinary folder bookmark.
