environment:
* hp laserjet 4050n with jetdirect module
* new machine with clean gutsy install, all updates until 2008/01/11 applied
(some possibly relevant packages listed below)
symptoms:
* printing from gedit, OOo, ... works perfectly fine
* in the printing preferences from eog or evince, selecting the one specific
available printer instead of "random printer" makes the application freeze
* printing from eog, evince makes the application freeze
some debugging:
* I raised the LogLevel to "debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf but could find no
clues in there
