Thanks for taking the time to report this issue and help to make Ubuntu better,
when you run it from command line, does give you any other information?, could
you please provide the version of the related packages you have installed, you
can obtain this running the following command from a terminal:
dpkg -l |egrep "totem|libxine1|gstreamer"|grep ^ii|awk '{print $2,$3}'
