Ubuntu 7.0
gedit 2.20.3-0ubuntu1
amd64

When I choose 'save as' for a new file, the filename comes up (as
expected) as "Unsaved Document 1". However it is displayed highlighted.
The normal expectation in this situation is that this means that it is
selected, and that typing anything replaces the highlighted text.

However, this is not what happens, and any key presses cause directories
or files to be highlighted in the file list. Also, pressing 'delete'
does not remove the highlighted default name.

This is annoying because (a) for a new file it is more likely that it
will require a name that does not appear in the current list of files,
and (b) as explained above, it violates the normal convention
established across operating systems over the years.

** Affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
