It is hard to tell the exact steps, since it just happens sometimes. And
it is when I play with setting new icons. The last time when it
happened, was yesterday (sunday 2008/02/03). One note: I occasionally
rename an image that is being used as an icon. I store them in
/home/$USER/something/ directory.

It is like creating/modifying new icons in xfig and gimp and then
setting it with 'right click/properties/click' on an item. I suppose it
is not xfig/gimp related since I use them frequently and those
directories do not arise - just only with the icon setting/modifying
events.

And one correction, the strange directory is being created in the home
directory (not in Desktop directory, as I wrote, sorry). Therefore I do
not see it immediately and I can not tell the exact trigger. I reveal it
a few minutes after the directory creation, according to its properties.
