This works properly in Hardy beta 4 now in my case. A restricted subdirectory cannot be copied, it gives an error. It can however be moved and files within that subdirectory will move too (despite the fact you can't see them in Nautilus due to permissions). So if that is how directory permissions are supposed to work then this is fixed. The two cases I tested were with the subdirectory permissions set to 007, owned by me and 700, owned by root as above.
