The cups issue is bug 29895, but this was already eliminated as a possible
candidate. Does the disk activity stop if you disable hal with
sudo /etc/dbus-1/event.d/20hal stop
? If so, then this could be a dup of 27323. Can you please try to verify that
by getting the debug information that is asked for in bug 27323? Thank you!
