Binary package hint: xorg
Set the screen resolution to 640x480 using system->screen resolution.
The system button then stops responding.
What has happened is that in resizing the toolbar, the panel that
normally contains shortcuts to firefox etc ends up *under* the 'system'
button... except that it reacts as if it's *over* the system button, so
when you try to access the system button to change back, it acts as
though you are clicking on Firefox, help, etc.
I had to delete entries off the toolbar until I was able to access the
left-hand edge of the system button, and then reset the screen
resolution.
I have now placed the screen res tool on my desktop.
I think the actual problem is in the gnome desktop, but it can get very
easy to get stuck in that mode, and there seems to be zip information on
how to actually change your desktop resolution apart from through this
tool.
I've seen this situation mentioned elsewhere, but not raised as a bug
itself.
