I just found some time to play around. The issue was solved by removing the 2 offending jpgs. these jpgs were randomly grabbed off the internet from google image search, so may be faulty is some way. find them at the link below
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/amanda.lambert/paul/problems/jpgs.tar.bz2 @Sebastien i moved the jpgs to another location. it gives this: gst-launch-0.10 -t filesrc location=/home/paul/Desktop/back#/jpgs/folder.jpg ! decodebin ! fakesink Setting pipeline to PAUSED ... Pipeline is PREROLLING ... Caught SIGSEGV accessing address 0xc #0 0xffffe410 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb7d3b8b4 in poll () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #2 0xb7de46e8 in g_main_context_check () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #3 0xb7de4bb8 in g_main_loop_run () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #4 0xb7ea65b6 in gst_bus_poll () from /usr/lib/libgstreamer-0.10.so.0 #5 0x0804a0af in _start () Spinning. Please run 'gdb gst-launch 29134' to continue debugging, Ctrl-C to quit, or Ctrl-\ to dump core. then i didnt know what to do. i hope this helps, but seems as though the jpgs were corupt in someway. -- Crash when adding files to library https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36660 -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
