Public bug reported:
I'm using Ubuntu 7.10. I'm a new Linux transplant from Windows. I've
searched the help files for a fix to this problem and there doesn't seem
to be a concise solution. I've tried all the solutions given and none
work. When I open Synaptic or empty trash there is a residue of the
password/"Emptying the Trash" dialog window leftover on the screen. This
problem is only correctable by full shutdown and restart. How can I
resolve the problem. I've already tried sudo...update, sudo...upgrade,
uninstalling compiz, changing theme, and switch user. It's on all my
desktops/screens for the user.
