You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hello,
This is a fresh installment of Hardy Alpha5 (i386). A wish or tiny bug. My system has two fixed hard drives with several partitions. The partitions (volumes) are correctly mounted and they all appear on the desktop surface and in the Places -> Removable Media menu, but the volume-names are not very helpful or self explanatory (self-explaining). See picture 1: http://bildr.no/view/159645 See picture 2: http://bildr.no/view/159647 The name "44.0 GB Media" is not very helpfull, it does not tell me anything. Now I have to guess the volume name, whether it is sda1, sda5 or sdb6, etc. Drop the decimals and add the actual partition name or label to the text. If disk label is empty then use the device (eg. sda3) or mount-point (eg. /media/sda3) names. This label much better: "Media sda6 (44GB)" ------------------- The GNOME's disk-mounter applet gives better names to the volumes (in the yellow help text). See picture 3: http://bildr.no/view/159648 ------------------- Most importantly: Many thanks for the great work you do with Ubuntu. ** Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hardy Alpha5, a wish: Better naming of mounted drives. https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/194708 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-volume-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
