Tried this with Hardy Alpha 5 LiveCD; the bug is still there. In Nautilus, I double-clicked on a .txt file that is located on a Samba share; Gedit opened and displayed the same error as with Gutsy ("Could not open the file smb://myserver/myshare/somefolder/readme.txt. Unexpected error: internal error"). Also, the same warning message as before appears in .xsession-errors ("** (gedit:8307): WARNING **: Hit unhandled case 3 (Internal error) in gedit_io_loading_error_message_area_new.").
Again, it seems to depend on whether there is a Gedit instance running or not. If Gedit is already running when doubleclicking on the file, it opens correctly; if Gedit is not running, the error comes up. Btw. running "gedit smb://myserver/myshare/somefolder/readme.txt" on command line gives the same behavior. -- gedit unable to open files on samba shares (7.04 Beta) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95414 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
