Thanks for your bug. Could you make a diff of /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom before
and after using gdmsetup to change that option? It creates the file just fine
on my box, and there is a gdm.conf-custom shipped with the package, did you
delete it? Activating the "same as local" option does update the config
correctly on my box
