Public bug reported:
On a brand new, fresh install of UbuntuStudio64 Hardy alpha5, the system
successfully boots to the login screen, let's me log in, Gnome will come
up, and then become completely unresponsive, save for the mouse pointer
still being able to move. My keyboard num-lock and caps-lock keys still
turn on and off, but control-alt-delete will not work at all, and I have
to hold my power switch down to restart. This happened twice in a row,
right after installing.
I wish I could be moire specific, but the system simply becomes
completely unresponsive, save for the mouse pointer, and I can get no
where. No key combo seems to work. I'll try re-installing, but this time
deleting the partitions and remaking them first. This time around, I had
simply reformatted partitions that were already there.
My system configuration is as follows:
Asus M2NPV-VM mobo (Nvidia chipset) with AMD64 x2 6000+
2GB dual-channel 800Mhz RAM
Emu 1212m sound card
On-board sound disabled through BIOS
3 x SATA300 hard disks
Dual-booting Windows XP
