You have been subscribed to a public bug:
System: Ubuntu 7.10, x86, all updates installed (2007.10.29), new
installation, no update from prior version.
Setup: local cupsd prints to remote printer via IPP, setup was done via
gnome applet (System>Admin>Printing). Remote IPP-Server (cups on debian
box) is open for all clients (no auth needed), local printer has no
access control (open to all users).
Working:
Printing testpages
Printing from Ooffice, Firefox, kpdf...
Not Working:
Printing from gnome-based applications, I tried "evince" and "epiphany".
Error message:
Box with error message: Either "Print Error: Can't prompt for authorization" or
"Print Error: Too many failed attempts"
Error message on terminal: "** (evince:11254): WARNING **: NOT
IMPLEMENTED: We need to prompt for authorization"
Thanks for your help.
** Affects: evince (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Confirmed
