Does anybody found correct solution? I have Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty (kernel 2.6.20-16-generic and gnome desktop) and have exactly the same problem. When I unplug network cable, then any application execution is blocked for about 5 or 10 seconds. strace gives the same output as it has been posted by another guys here.
I tried to switch off ipv6 as it has been posted by Alexander, but without success. I found in internet, that /tmp/.ICE-unix folder contains X11 session information. So it seems for me, that the problem is in x11 daemon, which executes applications running on it. I am not expert on GUI in Linux, but I can always easily reproduce the error and I can try to debug or whatever else, just tell me how.. Or maybe is it fixed in some new update?
