For me, the new hal didn't fix the problem. Right now, both g-p-m and acpi show that my battery is present but it is not. This is not a problem of a slow update of the battery state because the state is wrong since I switched on my computer.
Maybe this is to be discussed on another bug report? Some of the duplicates may not be duplicates.
