You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The mimetype of javascript files is incorrectly detected. Files with the
name *.js that start with a valid javascript comment are detected as c
source files. *.js files that do not start with a comment are detected
as matlab scripts. I will attach 2 examples. This manifests in nautilus
properties and in gedit.

On a sidenote, this bug is frustrating, since I can't double click on
the files in nautilus or on the desktop, since they are a "security
vulnerability." Perhaps there should be an open anyway option.

** Affects: shared-mime-info (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Confirmed
