Thank you! I'm glad to see that the 2.6.24-11-generic kernel I recently installed has fixed this! One slightly odd request: sometimes, for a gimmick, it's fun to turn off the backlight deliberately; is there any way to do this now, perhaps by echoing a specific negative value into sysfs manually? I'd think it'd require some alteration to the patch.
