your right. that acroread didn't open is a another issue. file a bug for that ? "As possible actions as for a local file" I meant that the same menu is show: e.g. on a local file right click on a pdf gives a menu: first entry * open with "Adobe Reader", second entry * open with ->: gives a menu of alternatives as evince and xpdf. This I meant with possible alternatives. The user can chose between apps for the same mime type. on an ftp connection this does simply not work. first you cannot "define" the alternatives and in addition when chosen one out the the list of all apps., the file is not opened. -- ftp connection:rigth click, "open with ->" entry does not show possible actions https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/36427
