Thanks for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better.
When you are "deleting" the anniversary, are you simply highlighting and
pressing delete or backspace, or are you clicking on the button that
says "none"?
When I highlight/delete it leaves the date in there. If I click on
"none" it does the expected behavior.
This seems like a usability bug.
A text field looks like it should be editable/deletable using the keyboard, but
that is not the case in this situation (you need to click the "none" button).
Suggestion: change that field to a calendar date selector, not a text field.
