On my Hardy Alpha installation I have seen at least two gnome-panel
crashes so far (the panel disappeared and reappeared, and dmesg reported
the segfault); but there have been no crash dialogs opened for this, nor
has a new file appeared in /var/crash/.
The line in dmesg looks like this:
[ 923.117144] gnome-panel[5238]: segfault at 00000044 eip b5b3fac9 esp
bf88f480 error 4
If apport deliberately ignores gnome-panel crashes, maybe it could log
that fact to dmesg as well?
