Your original description was speaking about the screensaver starting and now you mention using the power preferences which has nothing to do with the screensaver. The dbus monitor log was just to confirm that totem is correctly sending the screensaver inhibit call as it's supposed to do, so that's not a totem issue. What settings to you use for the screensaver configuration?
