Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
At some point over the last few days of updates the display brightness slider disappeared from the gnome-power-preferences dialog and I can no longer control the display brightness of my Sony VAIO VGN-CR120E. Display brightness is still available if I boot the Heron Alpha 6 Live CD. lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu hardy (development branch) Release: 8.04 apt-cache policy gnome-power-manager gnome-power-manager: Installed: 2.22.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.22.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.22.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status >From preferences help it appears there may be a new Brightness Applet, however it is not showing up on my task bar and I don't see this listed as an issue for Beta. I have attached the output from gnome-power- bugreport.sh and will attach gpm.conf.values shortly. Also xorg.conf doesn't seem to know what kind of video device I have, is that the problem? Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" EndSection I would be happy to supply additional info if you can direct me to scripts or commands to capture what you need.
