Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

When moving a text selection with the mouse, gedit autoscrolls so that
the currently highlighted line is centered to the screen/client area.
This tends to be confusing (i.e., the user needs to locate the target
line again). Usually happens when the highlighted line is near the
top/bottom of the screen. Also, there is no indication of the exact
insertion point ---and the mouse icon is not useful at all.

This happened in Gutsy, and still happens in Hardy-beta.
