Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I am using my GNOME desktop on my laptop with two different screen
resolutions, depending on whether I'm using my external 1680x1050 VGA
monitor or my 1280x800 laptop's display.

When using the bigger resolution VGA monitor, if I locate desktop icons
on places outside the laptop's lower resolution, these icons are not
shown when switching back to my laptop's LCD display since they are
"outside" it's display range.

I believe this should not happen, so IMHO nautilus should be expected to
detect icons located outside current display's resolution and still try
to relocate them to a place I could find them in a "best effort"
location strategy. I would also expect these relocation changes not be
permanent and still get icons at my original location when going back to
my greater display resolution.

I'm running Hardy Heron beta with updated packages as of bug report
timestamp, but I have been experiencing this issue in Gutsy before I
upgraded.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
