That's not a crash that's why there is no backtrace. Do you run gaim as root? Are you using KDE? It's weird it tries to create a /root/.kde/socket-ubuntu since Ubuntu uses GNOME and has not root account, did you tweak that? -- Gaim crash immediatly https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/38353
