[RESOLVED] : I came across a web posting that suggested the GSTREAMER package that comes with Ubuntu was not so good and that having the XINE BACKEND was better. I selected this from the repository and the issue above went away immediately. I can move back & forth without problems. Thanks for a great product and for the suggestion above. When I get Hardy installed I check the same happens without XINE.
