I hadn't thought about the issue of fractional results but yes, they need as 
much precision as can be provided.

I'm not sure why the 'show trailing zeros' option was set to on on my
machine (and hence this issue thread) but I can't seem to shake the
notion that rendering the appropriate level of precision should be
something that happens automatically. Other calculators (physical or
software) don't seem to have this issue.  Having it as a controllable
option seems more like a patch over the problem.
