You have been subscribed to a public bug:
this is the same problem as reported for (x)ubuntu. I input my name and
password and click on the 'okay' button, the screen goes dark and it
enters the Terminal and goes through what appears is the start up
procedure, for a moment. Then the login screen returns and I have to
input my name and password again. This time I can login.
I am using Hardy Heron beta
