% ls -l /proc/[0-9]*/fd/* | grep console                                    (~)
...
l-wx------ 1 ant ant 64 2008-04-17 13:36 /proc/26880/fd/6 -> /dev/console

% ps aux | grep 26880                                                       (~)
ant      26880  0.0  0.1  13424  1696 ?        SL   Mar17   0:00
/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon -d

No application should hold /dev/console open as it prevents clean system
recovery. In this scenario gnome-keyring-daemon would be killed should a
secure attention key be used.

See http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/SAK.txt for more
details.
