Gaim 2.0.0 has an SVG icon that someone contributed. It's not exactly the same as the .png, but it's pretty close. Perhaps that would help here. If it does, maybe we should consider using that in the .desktop file? -- Application menu icon does not scale well https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/38814
