Notes RE: other bug reports: 1) Bug 61817: I believe this bug is distinct from 61817 as the regeneration of thumbnails occurs regardless of whether using symbolic links or not
2) Bug 204434: I believe this bug is distinct from 204434 as this occurs regardless of zoom level.
