Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome
I run metacity inside gnome. Immediately on login, I type the 1 key on the numeric keypad, and gnome crashes and a get kicked back to gdm. Attached is the .xsession-errors file. There are no errors of consequence logged in the X or gdm logs, and I'm not sure how to debug this further. It might be related to one of the other gnome bugs that's been reported above, but considering I can crash gnome at the push of a keystroke, and I don't have a stacktrace, I'd report it separately and see what happens. I'm not sure which gnome package is at fault, so setting package to "gnome" # lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.04 Release: 8.04 # uname -a Linux sorhed 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux # apt-cache policy gnome-session gnome-session: Installed: 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.22.1.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status # apt-cache policy gnome-panel gnome-panel: Installed: 1:2.22.1.2-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 1:2.22.1.2-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1:2.22.1.2-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Using nvidia non-free drivers. If you need any more information, just ask. I didn't have apport installed when it crashed (sorry).
