Public bug reported:

When playing an mp3 file in Rhythmbox (and other media players, amarok,
VLC etc) there is intermittent playback problem. System sounds are not
working either.

The soundcard has been detected and works fine becuase there is sound
when playing a CD and DVD.

If you "mouse-over" the selected mp3 file in the file manager the file
that is currently being played in a media player, then the sound comes
through fine....as soon as you move the mouse pointer off the file the
sound stops!
