I recently updated from Gutsy to Hardy. Initially I did not have this problem, but upon boot after a system crash [due to failed suspend], I had exactly this problem: process "evolution-data-server" occupying close to 100% of one processor. After properly shutting down and restarting, the process was not running and CPU usage was reasonable.
