You have been subscribed to a public bug:
You cannot completely remove the evolution package from Ubuntu without
removing vital packages such as ubuntu-desktop, fast-user-switcher-
applet, gnome-panels, gnome-applets.
If you try to remove evolution-data-server-common it wants to remove the
above packages as well as the ones it should correctly be removing.
I believe that this inter-dependency is resulting in a lot of other bugs
regarding the upgrading of ubuntu-desktop failing due to problems with
evolution packages.
The problem appears to be that ubuntu-desktop is dependant on gnome-
panel, which is dependant on libedataserverui1.2-8, which is dependant
on evolution-data-server-common.
Break the dependency of gnome-panel on libedataserverui1.2-8 and this
problem will go away
I cannot see why gnome-panel is dependant on libedataserverui1.2-8,
perhaps it should be the other way around?
