I installed Ubuntu 8.04 on an Acer laptop (Intel Pentium M 1,4 GHz, Intel 85x
Video Card). While trying to logout or to shutdown I get a completely frozen
black screen. I have no chance to change to a terminal/console, the machine is
completely out of control, so I have to press the power button for a while
(hardreset). The same symptom can be watched while trying to switch the user.
To get an idea where to find the bug, I did following:

- started laptop as usual
- switched to a console
- sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
- startx
- logout

Result: everything worked fine. So GDM might be the problem?!?

** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
