Binary package hint: evolution
After switching a mail account's receipt type from POP to IMAP, I found
I still had a message open, and the contents of the message were
gibberish--I'm guessing because, apparently, the memory where the text
of the message had been was being used for something else.
I originally had the mail account receiving via IMAP, and had been
trying to figure out how to get Evolution to delete messages from the
server (in a web browser view of the same account, messages showed up
marked for deletion, but were never deleted) and tried going from IMAP
to POP. When I saw 2000-some messages to download, I aborted the
transfer about 200 messages into it, switched the account setting back
to IMAP, and then discovered the gibberish in the open message which had
contained ordinary text. I'm running a fresh install of Ubunty Hardy.
Can't say I made the best decisions, but maybe this at least uncovered
something notable? (Wish I hadn't closed the message already, or I
could make plain what sort of gibberish.)
