New install of 8.04 AMD64. My camera was recognized when I plugged it
in, but when I clicked "import photos" the window disappeared by nothing
happened.

System > Preferences > removable Drives and Media: Has the following
default set for Digital Cameras: "gnome-volume-manager-gthumb %h"

However, gthumb was not installed. sudo apt-get install gthumb fixed the
problem. I would assume this package would be a default, but for some
reason it did not get installed.

** Affects: gthumb (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
