When login at work using my local drive user account, but connected to
my employer's network, my Gnome panels are frozen for 1 or 2 minutes
until a timeout expires. Once the timeout expired, the Gnome panels
become responsive. However, applets "OOFIID:Gnome_BrightnessApplet" and
"OOFIID:Gnome_MixerApplet" die (see attached screenshot).
This occurs once in a while. I cannot figure out what network
dependency does Gnome have to my job's network. The first issue would
be to find a way to enable debugging to trace what is going one.
Attached, my .xsession-errors, but it is not helpful.
It does not occur if I am not connected to any network or connected to a
network other than the one at work.
Hardy Heron 08.04 final.
